We picked Runa up from the breeder (Myosotis) today, and tried to bond her with Aristoteles, and as you can see it was a success.

Aristoteles still thinks Runa is a little bit scary though, while Runa just wants Aristoteles' attention.

They are so cute together ^_^

Vacation

Right now I'm on vacation. We arrived yesterday after a long train trip. But this time is wasn’t that scary. First our part of the train was full of Japanese tourists, and when they saw me they all said: "Nawww!" because they thought I was so cute ^^ Then after a while we got half of the train for our selves. It was kind of cool!

Today I'm just relaxing in my room here at grandpa's. But this time it smells kind of weird here. Mum say that a little puppy lives here now, whatever that is (after what I understand it's a small version of Rammbo (grandma's dog).

Mum is also kind of excited these days. She and A tells me that I'm going to get a little sister on Sunday. But I kind of don't understand, what is a little sister? Does it mean that I'm going to get another arachnid sibling?

Some weeks ago mum threw away my cage. So now this is my new hay station:

I really like it now, but in the beginning I hated it since I used to rest in my cage during the day when mum was away. But now I just rest under the table or in the shelf :3

I really tiny part of my Blaptica dubia colony eating baby food (mashed fruit without any food additives):

Actually the colony has gotten so big that I have to reduce some of the individuals by giving about half of my culture away. Right now all my tarantulas except from Lumina (Brachypelma schroederi, juvenile) and Chiisai (Cyriocosmus elegans) are fasting; so the main roach-eater here right not is the emperor Swoon (Pandinus imperator). But when the culture is as big as it is, it doesn’t make any difference when your feeding with 4 nymphs and 6 adults every week, it just grows anyway...

Today mum disappeared for a while and then came home with these:

Unfortunately mum has hidden all the things (including the basket!) except from one willow ... She says that I will get them after I've finished this one, but I think she just want to play with them herself.

Helping mum to study

I'm having problems with my tummy again, but this time I'm perfectly capable of eating myself.

When mum first made Critical Care mix for me some days ago I ran and hid under the bed as usual and kept a long distance to my dish. But now some days later I've found out that it actually tastes really nice when you can eat it out of a dish and not have it forced down your throat with a syringe.

Trying to get mum to give me pellets again though; she's just giving me hay, water and critical care + my daily papayatablet right now... I want my daily ration of pellets back!

Even though I've had Balto for 2,5 years he's still able to amaze me.

I just found him drinking water even thought he was so in pain that he could not move yesterday (maybe it's the water I gave him yesterday?).

I'm just going to check him now, and then we're going to the vet...

He's in so much pain now...

He barley reacts and his cheeks seems swollen and painful...

If he survives until tomorrow morning I will take him to the vet and if they can't find out what's wrong I will let him go...

Balto seems much better after the abscess was removed :)
He's got his energy back, and it's a little more difficult to apply salve to the wound.
When it comes to the antibiotics I'm really impressed by how easy it is to give it to him, he swallows it without much fighting and doesn't spit out even a little droplet ^^

His eyes or rather his pupils is still white, thought. I can see that the whiteness in his eyes is dependent on the light and therefore the size of the pupil. And when I think back on the night I found him lying in the cage it was very dark so his pupils should be extracted so the whole eye would seem white to me.

I've tried to ask on a Norwegian hamster forum, but I've haven't got any answer, so I think I'll ask on an international forum to see if anyone seems to know what this is. I also think I will send some photos (the two bellow) to the vet, as it seems to me like they diden't check his eyes properly.

After surfing on the net a little searching for his symptoms I've begin to suspect cataract, as I he doesn't have problems with runny or sticky eyes I don't think is an eye infection, but I'm not an expert. And since he is on antibiotics shouldn't any infection been better by now? To me it seems like Balto has no problems with his eyes hurting, but it seems like he has lost some of his eyesight, as it seemed as he had some problems finding water in his cage, but I think that's solved after I gave him a water dish in addition to his water bottle).

Balto is sick :(

About 02:00(am) 17. august in the middle of the night I found Balto lying in his cage and his eyes were turned completely white. At fist I thought he was dead, then I lifted him up and he moved. It was to late to call the vet so I found a 1ml syringe and got him to drink about 2ml of water. I checked him lots of times during the night and it seems like his eyes got a little less white.

Next day I called the vet and had to leave him there since they ware really busy. Some hours later I got a message that they had found a abscess and removed it. When I come back to get him he seemed like he was in a little shock but fine, and his eyes seemed fine. I asked if they found out why his eyes turned white, and they told me that they hadn't found out and that probably it was because hamsters had a white transparent set of eyelids that had made his eyes seemed white. When we leaved we got some antibiotics (he's having 0,03ml twice a day for 10 days) and some salve for the wound.

When I came home I cleaned his cage and have used some kitchen paper as bedding. After a while I saw his pupils turning white again, so I gave him some more water and it seems like they became clearer again. I've also given him some Critical Care and some cockroaches since they contain lots of goodies (B. dubia). It seems like his eating, but not drinking by himself, so I've given him some cucumber (changes it every night) since it contains loots of water (and he eats it) in addition to giving him water with a 1ml syringe.

This is really scary since it's the fist time ever that Balto has been sick. Especially since he tends to sleep when I'm awake and wake up when I turn of the lights and go to bed when I turn it on. So it's was really luck that something kept me awake Tuesday night. I actually think Aristoteles have tried to tell me that something was wrong with Balto (he's laid in front of Baltos cage every night instead of under the table as he tends the, he's also spent loot of time in front of the cage), but as I'm just a stupid human I didn't get it... So I think Balto has been sick for maybe one or two days before I reacted as that's when Aristoteles "weird" behaviour started.

Right now we're visiting granddad and my aunts. Some days ago my it started to hurt inside my mouth so I kind of lost my apetite yesterday. It hurts so much when I chew, but it hav ehurted a little. So I have just eaten soft things, like leaves and dandilions or tasty things like my papaya tablets. And even thought I tried to trick mum into believing that I was fine by running a lot and pretending to eat she understood and today she and granddad took me to the vet after I had "played" a while in the garden...

And after the terrible new vet looked at my teeth mum LEFT me! And then they gave me something and I felt asleep. When I woke up I feelt really bad and my mouth hurt. A vet came and gave me Critical Care and then my old vet(!!!) came even though we are about 450 km away from home! [mums comment: His old vet had moved to work on this veterinary office, I was really surprised to find out].
After a looooooong time mum came and picked me up and granddad drove us home. Right now I'm sitting in the cage inside my enclosure here, with a blanket over me and is feeling kind of betrayed. Stupid mum... We're on a vacation and she left me with the vet :(

Think I'm going to try to relax a little, before mum starts to give me Critical Care.

My tummy hurted again on Thursday, so mum took me back to the vets office. I was really scared! [mums comment: And me too, the vet told me that if he wasn't better the next day they wanted to open him to see if something was blocking his gut].

When we came home mum gave me something and afterwards it didn't hurt that much, she also forced me into drinking water. I CAN drink myself you know! I also had to start to take paraffin again.

But now I'm feeling better, and mum have even given me some outside plants and a little branch I can chew on.

The really sad thing is that she have taken my cardboard boxes and laid a blanket over them in such a way that I can't play with them. Se says it's from my own good, but I really want to play with them...

Update #2 - Aristotels

I'm feeling much better now.
Started to feel better and hungry yesterday so I have eaten lots of hay, and then I just started to feel better and better. I think it's magic of something!

So now I'm eating by myself as you can see on the picture (but of course it looks like I'm in shock or something, but I'm not).

I feel like always actually.

And do you know what I have discovered!? Mum haven't given me pellets the whole time I have felt ill, and even not today when I'm feeling just fine! So I have to philosophise on how to give me all the pellets at once. But as usual I think she is going to give me my regular pellets ration (or maybe less!!!)... But that doesn't mean that I have given up yet!

I'm feeling better today :)

I was placed in my cage last evening and has been sitting there until now, so I ate some hay since it was really boring.

And I tricked mum today so I just had to take one syringe with medicine! [mom's comment: he just had to take antibiotics today, as we ended the paraffin cure yesterday]

Right now I'm lying under the bed to hide in case mum finds out that she is going to give me some more, or if she decides to put me in the cage again.

Everybunny should be allowed to roam free at all times, especially when they are not feeling well!

I'm not feeling really well right now

Thursday evening I didn't feel really well and my tummy was really painful, so when mum gave my my pellets I didn't eat as I was in so much pain. So mum force-feed with Critical Care me and massaged my tummy. I tried to run away of course but my strength just disappeared as I tried.

The next morning I was feeling better and ate a little pellets so mum went to do some errands. And while she was away I started to feel ill again, and didn't manage to finish my food. I tried to trick mum into believing everything was fine but she force-feed me again and put me in the my carrier. So we went to PetVett again... The vet checked my teeth as usual and after mum said something the started to touch my belly and I tried to run away. We went out but didn't leave and after a while another vet came took me away from mum(!) then she laid me on a table and held me tight and I was really scared. But then she took me back to mum. I tried to tell mum that we had to run and that these people was trying to kill me or worse! Then the vet came out again and we went into the room where I had been held on the table. Mum and the vet was looking on something and talked. I picked up the words serious, but I'm always serious you know.

Mum left me with the vets again and they force-feed me with something and then I was held on the table again before they gave me some medicine and put a cable (you know almost like the one that mum has put out of my reach) with water or something in one of my front legs (it really painful because it has a torn in it that they put in my leg).

After a long long time mum picked me up and we took the bus home, and then I was put in my cage even though I wanted to run under the bed. Mum also force-feed me and gave me medicine.

Now two days later I was allowed to go out of my cage. And I'm feeling a little better but I'm still feeling really sick, but I have managed to eat a little (mum has brought some really tasty hay, I think it is called alfaalfa hay or something). Right now I'm lying under mums desk and telling her what to write.

So see you later, and I will try to keep you fans a little updated on how I'm feeling.

[Mums comment: Aristotels has became really sick. The x-rays showed that his stomach has been magnified and he has problems with his digestion. I was tolled that if I had come later, it could have been to late for him... He got intravenous therapy at the vet (the cord he is talking about), and some medicines. Right now he gets antibiotics, medical paraffin and FibrePlex (and Critical Care). It's seems like his condition is stable right now, but if he gets worse it's straight back to the vet.]

En slitsom helg - Hva har egentlig skjedd?

This entry is written to the people close to Aristoteles and me and will therefore not be translated into English, but Aristotels will write a little entry in English today to explain what has happened the last couple of days.

Torsdagskveld fikk Aristoteles siste del av sin dagelige pelletsrasjon. Han hadde virket slapp hele kvelden, men det vårt først når han nektet å spise pellets at jeg ante at det var virkelig fare på ferde (og alle som kjenner Aristoteles ville nok også reagert ettersom han er helt vill etter pellets). Skal nevnes at han hadde vært interessert i mat bare noen timer før. Klokken var ganske mye og bussen hadde stoppet og gå. Jeg kjente på magen hans og den virket veldig oppblåst så jeg antok at han kanskje hadde forstoppelse. Jeg tvangsfôret han deretter med Critical Care og lunket vann, og masserte magen hans samt ga han litt FibrePlex. Jeg var oppe hele natten sammen med ham helt til han kom seg på do utpå morgenen en gang. Så jeg fikk i underkant av 2 timers søvn, men da jeg våknet igjen var i alle fall filosofen interessert i mat og kom løpende når han hørte at jeg ordnet med pelletsen hans og slukte papayatalettene sine som vanlig (de han tar siden han ikke klarer å bryte ned sin egen pels). Siden han var i så god form dro jeg og ordnet med mine daglige ærend.

Da jeg kom hjem igjen var han skikkelig dårlig og jeg fant ut at han verken hadde spist opp pelletsen sin eller vært på do siden morgenen. En rask telefon også bar det til dyrlegen. Vi ble sittende å vente ettersom han skulle bli sett på imellom noen andre når de hadde tid. Dyrlegen kikket på tennene hans og konstaterte at de var helt like som sist, og siden han sprellet så fælt (hadde jo blitt tvangsfôret rett før vi dro) så mente hun at det ikke var så alvorlig. Jeg sa at magen hans hadde virket ganske oppblåst og hun sjekket den, og konstaterte at dette måtte det taes røntgen av.

Så ble det å sitte å vente på venterommet en stund til før det kom ei og hentet Aristoteles. Etter en stund ble jeg også hentet for at jeg skulle få sett på bildene. Jeg ble mildt sagt sjokkert; bildet viste at magesekken hans tok opp ca 2/3 til 3/4 av kroppen hans. Videre fortalte dyrlegen meg at de trodde han hadde fått forstørret magesekk, men at det også kunne være for eksempel en svulst. Jeg fikk beskjed om at han måtte være hos dyrlegen litt til for å få tatt røntgen med kontrastvæske så jeg ble nødt til å overlate han til noen andre igjen.

Jeg benyttet dette til å få i meg noe mat ettersom jeg ikke hadde fått spist annet en frokost. Da jeg var ferdig med å spise fikk jeg melding om at Aristoteles var satt på drypp og at de hadde gitt han medisiner. Jeg dro tilbake til klinikken og satt og ventet på venterommet en god stund, før det kom noen ut til meg og sa at han snart var ferdig med dryppet i tillegg til at jeg ble instruert i fôring og medisinering de neste dagene. Jeg fikk en flaske med medisinsk parafin, en med antibiotika og beskjed om at han kun skal fôres med høy (kjøpte med noe Alfaalfa høy, som er veldig næringsrikt og fint for kaniner som er syke) og Critical Care fremover. Jeg fikk også beskjed om at det var kjempe fint at jeg hadde kommet nå ellers hadde det kunnet gått fryktelig galt, og at alt jeg hadde gjort natten i forveien hadde vært helt riktig og ville nok gi ham et bedre utgangspunkt for å bli bedre. Jeg spurte hva det kunne skyldes og fikk til svar at det var det ganske vanskelig å si noe om det kunne være at han hadde fått i seg noe, eller andre ting; ble også fortalt om en kanin som hadde dødd av det samme fordi den hadde spist skudd av gress og planter om våren som vist kunne være giftig for sarte kaninmager.

Etter en stund ble Aristoteles ferdig med dryppbehandlingen og vi kunne dra hjem igjen. Fikk beskjed om at hvis han forverrer seg måtte vi ringe vakttelefonen for smådyr og at det ikke var de som hadde vakt denne helgen.

Sent på kvelden, når det var tid for medisinering, la jeg merke til at flasken med antibiotika var tom, eller ikke tom, men kledd med bomull som antibiotikaen hadde trukket inn i og stivnet, og det var helt umulig å få ut noe som helst. Jeg ringte vakttelefonen og snakket med en annen dyrlege fra en annen klinikk og fikk beskjed om å komme innom tidelig neste dag etter for å hente antibiotika siden det var veldig akutt.
Denne natten ble det også i underkant av 2 timers søvn ettersom jeg var kjempe bekymret for den vesle gutten min. Han satt forøvrig i buret hele natten og hele tiden siden vi kom hjem ettersom han har en tendens til å spise når han kjedet seg. Han var veldig apatisk, men likevel sur fordi han måtte siste i bur (han er nemlig vant til å gå løs 24 timer i døgnet og buret brukes kun som en plass å ha dokassen hans og som fôringsstasjon).

Dagen etter fant jeg ut hvor klinikken som hadde vakt lå, og ble satt ut når jeg fant ut hvor langt det var unna i tillegg til at jeg fant ut at jeg ikke kunne ta busser dit fordi de ikke gikk ettersom det var første mai. Jeg spurte alle jeg kjente med bil, men ingen hadde mulighet til å kjøre meg ut. En venn av meg kom bort for å prøve å hjelpe meg med å ordne. Litt over klokken 10:00 ringte jeg vakttelefonen (koster forøvrig 26,- per min...) og fikk beskjed om at jeg måtte komme ut meg en gang ettersom de kom til å dra derifra snart og da måtte jeg betale enda mer for antibiotikaen ettersom jeg da ville bli nødt til å betale for utrykning i tillegg.

Vi endte derfor opp med å ta taxi og fikk verdens snilleste taxisjåfør. Først ble hun så opprørt over det med at jeg ikke hadde fått antibiotika til kaninen min og at det gikk ann å gjøre slike feil, så hun glemte å slå på takstometeret, og hun valgte å ikke legge til noen kroner heller når hun fikk det på igjen. Siden klinikken lå langt vekk fra alt og ingenting endte hun også med å kjøre feil, og slo av takstometeret helt til vi kom frem og hun ringte også vakttelefonen fra bilen for å finne frem og for at jeg ikke skulle måtte bruke enda noen kroner på å ringe dit. Da vi kom frem tom hun seg også pause sånn at vi slapp å betale for venting, ettersom vi ikke viste hvor lang tid vi ville bruke hos dyrlegen (og det endte med å ta litt tid ettersom Aristoteles måtte registreres i datasystemet). Denne dyreklinikken kunne fortelle at antibiotikaen var en feil og at jeg burde ta kontakt med dyreklinikken som behandlet ham for å se om jeg kunne få igjen noen penger.

Vel hjemme igjen hadde hele denne turen kostet meg ca 1000,- (taxi + medisin). Jeg skjønner at feil kan skje overalt, men det er likevel veldig surt å ha måttet ut med disse pengene, så jeg skal ut til den første dyreklinikken på mandag med kvitteringer på medisin og taxiregning for å prøve å få noe tilbake.

Etter Aristoteles hadde fått i seg antibiotikaen kom han seg faktisk litt og begynte å spise litt selv. Kjempe fint ettersom det betyr mindre intens tvangsfôring, som verken han eller meg er noe særlig glade i.

Han satt i buret sitt i hele går og i hele natt, og har spist ca en neve med alfaalfahøy i løpet av natten. Så i morges valgte jeg å ikke tvangsfôre, men se litt ann hvor mye han spiser i løpet av dagen, og nå ser det ut som han må igjennom en liten rundt med tvangsfôring igjen ettersom han ikke har spist noe særlig i løpet av dagen. Akkurat ligger han rett ut under skrivebordet mitt; han virker stabil, men likevel veldig sløv.

The Horrors of PetVett

The day before yesterday me and mum went to the park, and meet many people. It was fun, it's been almost a year since last time I think. Thousand years maybe!

Anyway: Yesterday mum took me to the botanical garden. There we met S and she and mum tried to read while I thought about chewing on their books, to consume some literature. What to you expect? I'm named after a great philosopher, and not just any great philosopher, the one that founded biology! So I can't resist ecology books. But I didn't chew on them, though.

I relaxed a bit under mums backpack before I started to explore a little and tried to chew on a tree, then I cleaned myself and THEN! mum picks me up and puts me in the carrier. I try to run away but is NO use!

And before I know it we are in the scariest place on all of earth: PETVETT! Mum took me out of the carrier and I sat on heir lap trying to hide under her arm. But then the vet come out and was calling my name. Mum started moving into the dark and scary office! And I tried to run away! But still to no use!

Then mum held me tight and the vet looked at my eyes, then she opened my mouth and looked on my front teeth. She went to get that thing, and I tried to tell mum that we had to run for it! But like always she got tricked and I had to get that thing in my mouth so she could look at my molars. Like always I tried to chew or spit it out, but the vet's evil powers were to strong...

Mum and the vet talked a bit and then we could go and I hid under mums arm in case the evil vet was going to change her mind and do some more tests!

[Mums comment: He didn't have to be put in anaesthesia to get his teeth corrected this time. The vet thinks thinks his teeth is getting better (she said that his molars look like those of a cat or dog, but that that is fine as long as his teeth are stabilising), so were not going back for a new control until July/August].

After we left the vet we took the bus to H, and there we sat in her garden so I could run a little (but I had to use my leash). A big cat came and really scared mum and H. I don't know what the most scary part was; the cat of the fact that mum was scared. But after being scared a way a couple of times by mum the cat left.

After being at H's for sometime, we took the bus home.

Easter

I'm still alive, but we have been really busy lately, so mum haven't have time to help me with my blogging.

We have for example moved into a bigger apartment, so I have bigger place to run and play around ^^ It's real fun and I run around and play a lot! I used really short time to adjust to my new surroundings so mum was a little surprised, but it's the same things and mostly the same smells and I have Bamsen (mums comment: Aristoteles' toy armadillo) , and he seems really comfortable so I started to feel safe too.

I have also been to the vet some weeks ago, it was another vet, and this time I didn't have to go back to fix my teeth. Yey! But mum says we are going back when we are coming home after Easter (we are on a little vacation right now).

Today I found Rosa (Grammostola rosea RCF) together with a shed skin, and this time the cast exoskelleton was whole and undamaged. I checked it and found out that my little (which actually isn't that small any more) juvenile is a girl :)

Rosa is related to Powerpuff (older sister) and Kleopatra. And she and Kleopatra is from the same eggsac and since they are about the same since and always have molted with just some days or hours between I cross my fingers and hope that Kleopatra is a girl too.

I found her like this when I woke up:

Vet

This was a long entry (on about two pages) but blogger deleted it and I don't want to write everything again....

I was the vet yesterday and fixed my teeth, and now I have almost fully recovered after the anaesthesia. Mum was really stressed before this since I got really bad after last time, so she talked to the vet and they have given me stuff to try to help me to get well faster. I eat by myself today, which is much faster then last time were mum had to feed me for a week.

Faint is dead

Today HugeSpider found Faint (Pandinus imperator) dead in her terrarium....

HugeSpider have watched her for me for a while, and she haven't eaten and the terrarium has been a little to dry lately. But she was a old lady so she probably died from age...

Faint was my first tropical arachnid and I bought her in Bergen the 15th of August 2005. And like every other arachnid you buy in a pet store in Norway she was probably captured in the wild (so don't buy from arachnids from pet stores!). When I brought her home to Drammen the first thing I did was to tell my mum, one day later she came to me and asked: "The scorpion isn't real is it?"

Some days later she escaped from the terrarium and when I found her and tried to get her up in a box she singed my thumb 3-4 times in row (I still got a scar as a memory of that).

One year I was afraid for her to die since she wouldn't eat (she just ate two crickets and one cockroach and one locust I think), but after a while her appetite came back (video).

And the last year she has accomplished to eat HugeSpiders Pandinus imperator male and been handled by a woman on a exhibition (the second time she was handled in my care and the only one without gloves) without stinging.

She has been a lovely girl full of attitude and I'm going to miss her...

Both Kleopatra and Rosa (Both are Grammostola rosea RCF) has molted the night to today :)

Their cast skins was damaged so I was unable to sex them properly but it seems like they both are males but I wouldn't know for sure until their next molt.

The fun part of this is that they are siblings from the same egg sack so it was really fun that the couse to molt on the same night. This is actually not the first time they have molted almost the same, but regularly Rosa molts 2-3 days after Kleopatra. And regularly Powerpuff who is their older sister (same mum) seems to molt at the same time as those two in the spring. So it shall be exiting to hear (she lives with HugeSpider) if she has molted or is molting in some days from now ^^

Mum is home again!
I had to make some happy nods with my head (I also did some happy runing) when I saw that it was her that come in the door this evening!
Mum smiled and said that I was really cute and then we cuddled for a little while.

Balto was also happy to see mum, he wanted to be picked up. And both me and him were given some sunflower seeds ^^

Home alone

Mum is going for a field trip today and is going to be away until Friday. So a neighbour of us is going to watch me and Balto while she is away (the eight legged siblings of ours is just going to live their normal life and are not going to be watched). Well if you can say that we are watched over; he's just going to come and feed us and give us fresh water two times a day, so basically we are going to be home alone. Mum says that she don't want to leave us but that she have to, but I think it's just going to be fine (as long as the neighbour not are going to pet me or anything).

I'm feeling lot better today!
So since I feel better I woke up mum today as I regulary do with licking her in the face.

I have also eaten some pellets today. Almost half of my daily portion actually ^^

I ate some hay yesterday evening to.

So here are some pictures of me waking mum this morning. Yeah I know they aren't that pretty. But remember that they are taken right after I woke mum.

Right now I'm sitting under my bed and washes myself (I just got my morning antibiotics). Mum says that we are going to sit outside in the garden today so that I can try to eat some tasty grass. That way I can play to, if I feel well enough to do so.

The vet called back yesterday by the way and said that if I'm not eating by tomorrow mum have to call them again. But I'm going to show them! I'm going to eat as I normally do tomorrow so I don't have to go back to the vet!

So I was by the vet today (AGAIN!) and this time mum leaved me alone! They gave me a shot and then I became very tired and fall to sleep.

When I woke mum was still not there and I felt terrible and wasn't able to walk on my feet. After a while when I was able to walk again and then she took me home again. And now she are going to give me some Critical Care since I don't want to eat any hay, herbs or pellets...

How could she do this against me?

Mum feels sorry for me, but it still was she that took me to the vet...

How could you leave me here alone with this people?! (Me when mum picket me up at the vet)

I have just got my medicine for the evening; antibiotics and Fibreplex. And mum says that this is the last time I have to take Fibreplex but I have to take the antibiotics and painkillers for some more days... But I feel better now, and I don't think it's the medicine although mum tries to get me to think that!

After taken my medicine mum placed me on the bed (I take my medication in the bathroom) and gave me two papayatablets and some herbs as a price. Right now I'm still playing in mums bed. I have even done some happy bounces! And I'm diging a lot behind the reed pillow on the bed.

You can't see me!

Anyway I'm going to the vet again tomorrow to fix my teeth.

And by the way: I have eaten some hay today :)

Vet again!

Yesterday I was by the vet again since it hurtled in my mouth too. This time we went to the other vet and they found out that I had teeth was sharp teeth in addition to my tummy problems. So after been there I got three kinds of medicine:

Antibiotics for my fever (2 times a day for 8 days)
Painkillers for my hurting tummy and teeth (1 time a day for 7 days)
Fibreplex for my tummy (3 times a day for 2 days)

So you can say that I'm kind of angry at mum now. I hate those things that I have to put I'n my mouth to take the antibiotics and Fibreplex. Yesterday mum gave me Fibreplex and painkillers in some herbal leaves but today when I found out I refused to eat the Fibreplex infected herbs so mum had to give me that in the mouth to in addition to the antibiotics. Why cant all kinds of medicine taste like papaya tablets!? Stupid veterinarian and mum...

Air in the system

I haven't felt so well the last couple of days. Two nights ago I woke up and my tummy hurted so much that I had to thump with my hid leg lots of times. Mum lifted me up in the bed and tried to calm me down, but it didn't help.

Since my tummy have pained me so much I haven't been so enthusiastic when it was feeding time these two days. For short I have hidden myself under the bed most of the time.

So today mum placed me in my transporter cage and then we took the bus to the vet and they found out that I had air in my digestive system. The vet gave me some medicine and then we could go home.

I didn't like the vet at all and so did mum: Se lifted me after my fur in my neck and mum said that she wasn't allowed to do that with me, she tried to say that it didn't hurt me but mum said that she weren't allowed to do that with me under any circumstances. So mum held me instead while the vet were checking my tummy. She also came with some tips that were stupid since they were not god for bad bunny tummies.

Mum have said that that is the last time I'm going to that vet and from now on we're going to another vet that is called PetVet Bergen that have more knowledge when it comes to us bunnies (and there is also possible to buy Oxbow products there), even if they are a little far away from where we live.

Anyway I'm feeling better now, and have cuddled lots with mum, but mum still says that I just will have hay to eat for some days to be sure that I will be completely well before I will get pellets again... I will still get my two daily papaya tablets though (and maybe I will get some few pellets for snack when we clicker train) :)

Sun, park, bus and go

Today lots have happened! Many scary but still interesting things.

After mums lecture in Zoology today she and commoncroc (a fellow student of mum) came, and mum put my harness on me. Then she (followed by commoncroc) caried me outside. We walked longer to the spot were mum have carried me before when I took the bus for the first time. After a while the bus came and we went on, it was really scary but still I was curios (last time I was in my traveling cage but today I just sat in my harness and leash).

After a while we went of the bus and then we walked to a place were we meet eci_frog, then we walked to the park! It was really fun and we met more people including bergtatt (who always gives me yummy things and lets me do anything I want ^^).

It was really fun to be in the park again, and I got all the attention I wanted ^^

After some hours in the park mum and the others began to pack their stuff. And mum put my short leash (me long leash is over 5 meters) on and then I, mum, eci_frog and pekko (a guy mum plays go with) walked to the university (mum plays go there).

After a while eci_frog went, and I was placed on a blanket on a table. Mum said that we were going to leave soon she just had to hear when they are going to play tomorrow. Then after a while we left again, after I had said hi to all the guys mum plays with.

And then mum carried me for a long time and then we took the bus home again.

Me right after I turned on the music on bergtatt's computer (to his surprise), so here I listen to the music:

I also have to add that Balto has moved in in our apartment now after a long while with Hamsterguardian. She is going to write something about that to when she's getting better.

Fire!

Before five this morning the fire alarm began to scream... I was really scary... But as mum said I behaved very well even if I was terrified... We are inside or apartment again (we were allowed to enter it again about 05:30). I'm a little more relaxed now and are lying on the floor beside the table in this very moment, looking at mum helping me write this entry.

The most scariest part was that the fire alarm screamed so loud. But when we stood outside it came two monsters that was blinking blue as well, and they were also really scary, but still not so scary as the fire alarm.

When we came inside again I was placed on the bed and was given lots of sunflower seeds because I was so well behaved and brave this morning.

I'm now going to quote the post mum wrote at Kanin.org this morning. I know it is in Norwegian but it is mainly for those who are close to us and they speak Norwegian (mum has not decided yet if she is going to translate it to English):

I morgen før klokken frem gikk brannalarmen her i huset vi bor i. Jeg klekke på meg i en fart og fikk etter en stund frem en livredd Aristoteles med vidåpne øyne fra under sengen. Brannalarmen er ikke akkurat noe han liker nei... På vei ut utgangsdøren begynte vi å lukte røyk.

Vel utenfor bygget møtte vi mange andre som var skikkelig irriterte for å bli vekket så tidlig. Etter en stund kom to brannbilder med blålys og røykdykkere som kom seg inn i bygget. Etter en god stund ble bygget klarert og de som bodde i den delen av blokken hvor brannen hadde oppstått og fikk beskjed om å lufte ut. Etter en stund med en gigantisk vifte for å få ut røyk fikk vi som bor i motstående blokk gå inn.

Aristoteles oppførte seg helt eksemplarisk i morges enda han var livredd og hater og bli løftet. Han kom ut fra innerst under sengen (som han hadde søkt tilflukt under på grunn av brannalarmen) uten å bli dratt ut og til min store glede slapp jeg å måtte ta ham i nakkeskinnet, men tokk ganske enkelt og la begge armene rundt ham og fikk dyttet ham ut og løftet ham opp. På vei ut av bygget gjemte han hodet under armen min ettersom lyden fra brannalarmen var kjempe høy og fæl og skremmende. Når vi kom ut gikk vi ut til noen Aristoteles har møtt før for å slippe at han skulle bli enda reddere av de som sto rundt. Han satt stille på armen min, uten å prøve å hoppe ned, med hodet opp mot halsen min med vidåpne øyne. Etter en stund roet han seg ned igjen, og ble også trøstet av en som sto utenfor som han kjenner litt fra før. Så kom brannbilene og i stedet for å prøve å stikke av fra lysene gjemte han hodet under armen min igjen. Etter en stund turde han å ta frem hodet igjen og puttet hodet opp mot halsen min igjen og slikket meg noen ganger for å trøste en mor som også ble ganske stresset av at han var det. Når vi endelig kom inn i bygget igjen satt fortsatt Aristoteles helt stille til han ble plassert på hodeputen på sengen, uten å prøve å hoppe ned med en gang vi kom inn døra, noe han pleier å gjøre etter vi har vært på tur. Han satt helt fin i senga helt til jeg la meg ned sammen med ham og ga han solsikke frø og fortalte ham hvor flink han hadde vært. Nå noen timer etter derimot sitter han under sengen igjen fortsatt litt redd, men han kom frem for å få pelleten sin som vanlig.

Heldigvis gikk det bra og heldigvis var ikke brannen i vårt bygg og heldigvis spredde den seg ikke ut av leiligheten den var i. Men likevel sitter jeg igjen med et støkk i meg noe Aristoteles tydeligvis merket ettersom han som sagt prøvde å trøste meg når vi sto ute og så opp på vinduet til et rom fylt av røyk. Hva om Aristoteles er alene hjemme når det brenner? Hva om han brenner inne mens jeg er på en forelesning? osv. Om ikke så mange timene skal jeg på forelesning igjen og jeg kjenner at jeg egentlig har mest lyst til å ta ham med. Men han skal selvsagt får være hjemme ettersom en tur til universitetet ikke er noe han trenger nå etter å ha hatt en veldig stressende start på dagen. Har i alle fall planlagt å prate med noen som bor i gangen rundt meg om at hvis jeg ikke er hjemme under brann så har de lov til å bryte seg inn i leiligheten min for å redde ut Aristoteles.

Hehe, nå kom Aristoteles ut fra under sengen og lurte på hva jeg drev med og ser rett og slett litt leken og tigger etter å få papayatablettene sine. Han ser heldigvis ikke så stresset ut lenger, det var veldig godt å se :)

Chiisai

I have now dug up Chiisai (Cyriocosmus elegans) from it's terrarium for the second time in a about half a year. Since I have not seen it in a long time, and since I was afraid that it maybe had got it's borrow in the head like last time when I dug it up. And like last time that was the case. I dug it up, and thought it was dead, and then it started to move so it's still alive.

It seemed very sluggish, but had a big abdomen (seems like it's going to molt soon ^^) so it seems like Chiisai is still fine even if it's haven't eaten in about two months or more. After placing it back in the terrarium it used it's time but dug a new burrow in about 5 minutes. I'm wondering how it's able to get it's borrow in it's head, since the substrate always is very moist.

Since I feel that I have stressed my little baby enough today I think I will feed it after a couple of days, and see if it's wants a little meal then.

Unfortunately I didn't have batteries in none of my cameras, so the only picture I got of Chiisai this time is a crappy mobile photo:

By the way I fed all the other tarantulas today. Rosa (Grammostola rosea RCF) was the only one to throw itself over it's meal as usual. And it seems like little Strawberry (Brachypelma sp.) is going to molt soon to ^^

Outside in the sun

Since I got my new harness today, and since it was nice weather outside today, me and mum were outside in the garden.

This is the fist time I'm outside this year. Except from the terrible day when I was outside in the terrible so-called snow... But that doesn't count!

Music

I'm a music loving bunny, and I especially like rock and some metal. My favorite band is Guns N' Roses I think. And I also like Disturbed very well. I also like Slipknot which mum says she is finished with so I only listen to them when I'm home alone.

You see mum have made a profile and music library for me on a page called Last.fm (my username is AristotelesII), and when I'm home alone I listen to this music. And it consists only of music I like (mum likes some classical and tai chi music which I hate, why can't she listen to that when she's not home?!)

Mum can tell which music I like since I relaxes, makes happy jumps and sometimes rolls over and lies down to just listen when I hear music I like, and since I get stressed, run under the bed or "thumps" with my hidden leg when I hear music that I don't like (like Christmas music...). So you can say that I are kind of picky when it comes to which music I listen to. Only the best is good enough for me.

Today mum brought a new Disturbed CD home; so right now I'm lying on my carpet with my ears towards the computer and is just listening to the music.

Triops

Today I was at VilVite senteret in Bergen for a lecture in biochemestry (MOL100) and evolution and ecology (BIO110), and as I was there my attention was drawn against their little souvenir shop with lot of different science products for children. And before I got to think I stood there with a box with Tripos sp. eggs.

After what I have fund out after loots of reading about care for these little creatures it seems like have got my hands on the species Triops longicaudatus. But I wouldn't know for sure before they hatch.

So when I came home this evening I filled a box with water and added half of the box with eggs, and after what I have read I just have to wait in 24-48 hours before I will see them swimming around.

I really love hay!
Every time mum are placing some more in my cage I run towards her to get the best bits from the haybox, and she actualy tends to give me to longest and the thickest strays chew on.

Just look:

And did you humans out there know that hay is the most important part of our bunny diet. We like it because it's high in fibre, which keeps the digestive tract moving, helping to prevent blockages and stasis. Acctulay 85-90% of what we are eating should consist of hay.

Today I was out in the snow for the first time, and it was TERRIBLE! And REALLY scary!

And were was all the tasty green grass gone?

I will newer lay a paw on that terrible frozen water again! It's unnatural! Water is a liquid not a solid!

After we came inside again I hid myself under the bed, and I haven't come out yet (except from one time when mum offered me some hay).

Workingbun

I'm a working bunny. And as everyone else I like to work with interesting things. One of my jobs is to tear apart paperthingies that lies on the floor, or like I like to say it: consuming literature and important paperwork. Mum actually calls me her little shredder, I don't know what that means but I think it's related to my paperwork.

One thing I don't understand thought is that mum gets angry when I find her so-called books on the table and start to chew on them. Why get angry? Stupid mummy: You have to let me do my work without interference as it's kills my inspiration...

And as a tip to everybun out there in the big world: This kind of paperwork is really funny! So go and steal you mummies' and daddies' books, magazines, bills or other paperthingies right away!

Comment from mum: Aristoteles got this magazine to chew on to keep him away from chewing on my books (which are hidden in a place he can't reach). And don't be afraid, it's not dangerous for him to chew on since it has no metal staples and since toxic printing ink are banned here in Norway.

Today I got a Christmas present! I don't know what this Christmas thing means jet but I think it involves loots of treats since I got a loot of them in my present without even doing a trick to earn them! I got Clementine, ten sunflower seeds, my daily Papaya Tablets (Oxbow) medicine (which tastes great ^^) and three Critter Berries (Oxbow)!

By the way look at my cool black ribbon! I really like it and have been showing it to all the people that have seen me today by raising my neck up and towards them. Mum is really surprised because she thought that I would hate to hate it and chew it apart. But you have to understand mum; I'm named after a great philosopher so I like to look pretty!

Christmas and sleeping

Tomorrow me and mummy are going to granddad, grandmummy and aunty (and my uncle HamsterGuardian). We're going to go there by train or something, mummy says that it's a big thingy that moves on wheels and electricity (or something). I'm looking forward to meet the granddad again since he always gives me sticks that I can chew on ^^ And aunty is really good at cuddling.

But why are we going you might ask. We are going to celebrate something that are called Christmas were you are allowed to eat as much food as you want (but I'm eating as mutch hay as I want everyday so I don't understand why this day is so important) and you are also allowed to rip paper apart (and that is what I'm really looking forward to ^^).

Sorry, for not updating my blog lately but lots of things have happened in the last weeks. You see mummy and I have moved to a new apartment. I really like it here, because now I am allowed to roam free in the apartment even when I'm home at my own :) I'm not allowed to be out at night, thought... Stupid mummy, it's not my fault that she sleeps the WHOLE night and dosen't want to be waked up for cuddling sessions... It's a bit fun actually at first I lick her in the face and if she dosen't wake up I bite her lightly, and if that dosen't work either I beat her in the face with my front paws...

My new box!

Today mum bought me a new box form the store! And it's really funny to jump in and out from. And mum have even put some of my toys and a blanket in it (I tossed out the blanket because I like to lie down on hard surfaces).

Because of a long term sickness I had to give away some of my animals today, and it's terrible, I'm sitting and crying today...

Balto is now owned together with Hamsterguardian which will update this blogg with Norwegian posts about Balto. I miss him soo mutch.

HugeSpider is watching after all my other animals now, exept from Aristoteles and my C. elegans, Chisaii, and of couse Balto. Bacause he has watched after my animals for a while now, we (and my family) have disided that I'm not capable of taking care of all my animals anylonger.

I feel teared apart and is crying a lot these days... All my animals is like children to me...

From the top:

Luve-leg (pronounced Lurvelegg in Norwegian) : My sisters first bunny. She died in 2006 when she was 6 and a half years old.
Lurven: Daughter of Lurifacks and Luve-leg. She were also my sisters bunny. She also died in 2006, but before her mother by and unknown cause, and reached an age of 4 and a half years.
Lurifacks: My little sunshine who died from me this spring (2008), he became almost 8 years old.
Aristotels II: Which you all know ;)
Buster: My sisters and mine first bunny whitch we got when we were 5 and 3 years old, but when my sister got Luve-leg he bacame my bunny. He became 6 years oldand died in 2000.

The only bunny that misses on the wall is Duti which died in an age of 6 weeks as he broke his rear leg and had to be put to sleep. He was my bunny and son of Luve-leg and a unknown male bunny.

Duti also had two siblings but these was given away.

When mum come into the room after showering she said to me:

Aristotels, what are you doing?!

And as an answer I greeted her:

Hi mum!
I see that your done showering!
Se what I have done!
I have marked my lead, my hay sack, your pc cables and the floor, and now I'm looking for food in the trash which I also marked by the way!

I can't understand why she got irritated and said... I just marked all my stuff so that none else would take it, like those scary people living outside our room!

Stupid stupid mum...

She also says that it's about time I got spayed... And I'm going to the vet to be that tomorrow, I'm also going to get a mircochip there! I don't know what all that is but whit names like that it has to be some great tasting food!

Yesterday I was allowed to play in mums bed! Even after the light was turned off in our room! I played a lot and made lots of happy bounces!

Mum caught me stealing oats some days ago.

She said "Hva er det du driver med!? Får du lov til det her?" (which means "What are you doing now!? Are you allowed to do this!?"). I youst looked at her with my big innisent eyes and told here that I did nothing wrong, but she saw throuh my wet and supercute look and took the oats bag away...

It's so unfair! Why do the mealworms get to eat as mutch oats thay want when I cant get anything? And the worst thing is that the mealworms are food for Chiisai (Cyriocosmus elegans) my big sister (which is really little by the way) .

Stupid, stupid mum....

I'm so happy today!
My mum laid a towel on the floor today so it was easier for me to walk on, and I was so happy that I had to do loots of happy jumps ^^

My new cage!

Today mum and a friend of hers was out and bought a new home for me ^^
And I love it!

I have made a few happy-jumps in my new cage and have played in it for the whole day. Who needs to be a indoorrabbit who can run outside he's cage when he wants, when you have a cool cage as mine ^^ (don't misunderstand I love to have the freedom to deicide when I want to be outside my own cage)

Mum has also clipped my nails today so now I can walk on the floor easily ^^ It was a little scary at first but then I realaxed and everything went fine ^^

I have also got a toy today, that are really spessial: When I push it arrownd it sometimes fall yummy pellets out of it (mum calls it a snackball or something) <3 Lurifacks, my mums little boy who died before I was born. I'm not allowed to play with his other toys who stands in the bookshelf, but I got this little toy from him and I really love it!

A video of me when I just got inside my new cage (I'm playing the intromusic on my new drinkingbotle :) The one I mum bought in the petstore was way to difficult to drink from, and mum have now trown it away).

A day in the park

Today were mum and I in the park near our apartment!

It was really cool!
I had a really good time and made some small happy-jumps so I could show mum that I thought it was fun to be outside and in the park.

We were in the park for some hours and if it haven't been for that scary seagull (I had to hide into mum, but if it hadn't surprised me that much I would probably be brave enough to tell it not to scream that loud).

We also had a little cuddling time, and I didn't want mum to stop cuddling me so I pushed her hand with my cut little grey nose and got her to cuddle me all the time while she read in her book. Of course I didn't have time to cuddle all the time and I jumped around and played. For example have I found out that it's really fun to jump in and out of mums backpack and hide under it.

Yesterday I was outside for the first time in my life.
It was right after my new mum picket me up.

It was a little scary but as the brave bunny I am I conquered my fear and explored the world who was laid near my travelling cage.

Aristoteles (Greek: Ἀριστοτέλης, Aristotélēs) is 10weeks today, and is named after our old dog Ari (which was a short form for Aristoteles) as well as the philosopher Aristoteles (in English known as Aristotle) who is known to be the funder of the science biology.

Aristotle's classification of living things contains some elements which still existed in the nineteenth century. What the modern zoologist would call vertebrates and invertebrates, Aristotle called 'animals with blood' and 'animals without blood' (he was not to know that complex invertebrates do make use of haemoglobin, but of a different kind from vertebrates). Animals with blood were divided into live-bearing (humans and mammals), and egg-bearing (birds and fish). Invertebrates ('animals without blood') are insects, crustacea (divided into non-shelled – cephalopods – and shelled) and testacea (molluscs). In some respects, this incomplete classification is better than that of Linnaeus, who crowded the invertebrata together into two groups, Insecta and Vermes (worms).

"I’m not adicted to my wheel!"

Little Balto is very found of his wheel. His own meaning is that this is the coolest toy he has.

And because of the fact that I always takes out the wheel at night, he runs in it all morning for the time I set it up again. This also result in weird circadian rhythm for him: He wakes up at 22:00 to 23:00 (sometimes even as late as 00:00), and he goes to bed around 13:00-15:00. This means that we only spend time together, when I'm home in the weekends or when I'm going late to bed.

I wonder when he will realise that the wheel also is available in the evening...

Trying to train Balto

A couple of days now I have tried to train Balto to be handled.

He is a little brave little guy and has no problems with being hand feed nor being close to a human.
But the problem is that when somebody touches him he starts to scream and turns over on his back.

I have bought a training ball for him, so I hope that running on the floor will get him to relax more when he's touched.
